Physical Security & Surveillance

SOT provides comprehensive, AI-powered physical security deployments. From advanced CCTV networks to biometric access control and ANPR logistics, SOT ensures facilities remain secure and monitored around the clock.

A physical security system is four systems that have to behave as one: cameras that see, a recorder that keeps what they saw, a credential system that decides who may pass, and a barrier that enforces it. They are usually bought separately, from different vendors, and the integration between them is where these projects fail — a controlled door with no camera covering it, or footage that cannot be matched to an entry because the recorder's clock has drifted from the access log's.

SOT designs the four together. The camera layout is drawn against the access-control plan so every controlled door sits in a field of view, the recorder is sized from the real retention requirement rather than a round number of days, and the whole system runs from one time source so an event in the access log can be matched to the second in the footage.

The network underneath matters as much as the devices on it. Forty cameras pushing 4K streams is a sustained load that will find any weakness in the switching, the PoE budget or the uplinks, so the surveillance VLAN is designed as part of the deployment rather than dropped onto whatever network is already in the building.

What this covers

  • IP video surveillance

Fixed, PTZ, panoramic and thermal cameras, positioned for the identification standard each area actually needs — recognition at a gate is a different pixel density from observation in a corridor.

  • Video management and recording

NVR and VMS platforms specified from the real stream count, resolution and retention period, with RAID and redundancy where losing the footage is not acceptable.

  • Access control

Card, PIN, mobile credential and biometric readers with door controllers, request-to-exit devices, maglocks and strikes — wired so a power failure leaves the building in the state fire regulations require.

  • Biometric identification

Fingerprint and facial readers for areas where a credential that can be lent or lost is not good enough, with the enrolment and data-handling questions settled before deployment rather than after.

  • Vehicle access and ANPR

Barriers, bollards and road blockers driven by plate recognition, loop detectors or long-range tags, integrated with the site's own vehicle and visitor lists.

  • Intrusion detection

Perimeter and internal detection — PIRs, magnetic contacts, glass-break and beam detectors — reporting into the same platform as the cameras rather than into a panel nobody looks at.

  • Video analytics

Line crossing, intrusion zones, loitering, people counting and plate capture, tuned on site. Analytics configured from a datasheet rather than against the real scene is the usual reason a system produces alerts nobody trusts.

  • Central monitoring

One operator view across cameras, doors and alarms, with the video wall, workstations and role permissions needed to run it.

How we deliver it

  1. 01

    Site survey

An engineer walks the site and records what is actually there — cable routes, containment, power, ceiling voids, existing equipment and its condition. Most of the cost overruns on a project of this kind are either discovered here or discovered late.

  2. 02

    Design and Bill of Quantities

A drawn design and an itemised BoQ: every part, its quantity and its price, with the reasoning for the specification written beside it. You own the document whether or not you buy from us.

  3. 03

    Supply from Riyadh stock

Equipment released against the BoQ from local stock where we hold it, or ordered directly from the vendor where we do not. Serial numbers are recorded against your project, so a warranty claim later does not depend on you having kept the paperwork.

  4. 04

    Installation and commissioning

Our own engineers install, terminate, configure and test. The testing is documented — link certification, camera fields of view, failover checks — and the results are handed over as part of the file rather than described verbally.

  5. 05

    Handover and support

As-built drawings, configuration backups, credentials and test results, plus training for whoever will run it day to day. Support and warranty are handled by the same team that installed it.

Standards and regulations

What a deployment is measured against. A consultant or a main contractor will check a proposal against these, so they are named rather than implied.

MOI surveillance regulations
Saudi Ministry of Interior rules govern camera placement, retention periods and who may access recorded footage on commercial and public premises. This is the requirement most often discovered after a system is already installed.
Civil Defense requirements
Fail-safe behaviour on controlled doors, egress routes, and the interface between access control and the fire alarm. A maglock that stays locked when the fire panel fires is a life-safety failure, not a snag.
IEC 62676
The international standard for video surveillance systems — system requirements, image quality, and the grading scheme that defines what identification, recognition and observation actually mean in pixels per metre.
IEC 60839
Alarm and electronic security systems: access control system requirements, and the grading of intrusion detection by the level of threat it is expected to resist.
IP66 and IK10
Ingress and impact ratings for anything mounted outdoors. In Riyadh, dust and summer heat end more external cameras than vandalism does, so the ingress rating usually matters more than the impact one.

Questions we get asked

How long does a typical CCTV/access-control installation take?

Timelines vary by site size and camera count; SOT provides a project timeline during the site survey.

Do SOT's security systems comply with Saudi regulatory requirements?

SOT designs deployments with MOI and Civil Defense requirements in mind for commercial and public sites.

Can SOT integrate ANPR with an existing CCTV network?

Yes, SOT integrates ANPR logistics gates with existing or new CCTV and access-control infrastructure.
