Enterprise Networking & Connectivity
SOT architects and deploys high-performance network infrastructures. Integrating SD-WAN, core switching, high-density Wi-Fi, and certified fiber optic cabling, SOT builds the reliable backbone of modern digital enterprises.
Almost everything else on this site runs on the network. Cameras, door controllers, telephones, screens, access points and the ERP all terminate on the same switching, so a network designed only for office traffic becomes the constraint on every other system in the building the moment those are added to it.
That is why the passive infrastructure and the active equipment are designed together here. Cable type, containment and patching decide what the network can ever become; switches and access points decide what it does today. A building cabled to Category 6 will not carry 10GBASE-T to the floor later, and rewiring an occupied building costs several times what specifying the right cable first would have.
SOT designs the whole path — the fibre backbone between buildings and floors, the horizontal copper to the outlet, the switching and routing on top of it, the wireless coverage over it, and the WAN that connects the site to everywhere else — and certifies the passive layer so there is a test result for every link rather than an assurance that it all worked on the day.
What this covers
Structured cabling
Category 6, 6A and fibre horizontal and backbone cabling, containment, patch panels and racks, installed and certified to a standard rather than to a deadline.
Campus and data-centre switching
Access, distribution and core switching sized for real port counts, PoE budgets and uplink oversubscription, with stacking or chassis redundancy where an outage is not survivable.
Enterprise wireless
Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E designed from a predictive or on-site survey — access point placement driven by measured coverage and capacity rather than by a rule of thumb per square metre.
Routing and SD-WAN
Multi-site connectivity with policy-based path selection across fibre, fixed wireless and LTE, so a link degrading does not take the site with it.
Network segmentation
VLANs, inter-VLAN policy and access control so surveillance, building systems, guests and corporate traffic are separated — the single most effective containment measure most buildings never implement.
Power over Ethernet
PoE, PoE+ and PoE++ budgets calculated across the whole switch rather than per port, which is where camera and access point deployments most often run out of headroom.
Fibre optic infrastructure
Single-mode and multimode backbones, fusion splicing, termination and OTDR testing, with the loss budget documented per link.
Monitoring and management
Centralised management, configuration backup and alerting, so a failed uplink is something you are told about rather than something a user reports.
Explore in detail
Each of these has a page of its own — what it involves, what it covers, and the questions that decide the specification.
How we deliver it
- 01
Site survey
An engineer walks the site and records what is actually there — cable routes, containment, power, ceiling voids, existing equipment and its condition. Most of the cost overruns on a project of this kind are either discovered here or discovered late.
- 02
Design and Bill of Quantities
A drawn design and an itemised BoQ: every part, its quantity and its price, with the reasoning for the specification written beside it. You own the document whether or not you buy from us.
- 03
Supply from Riyadh stock
Equipment released against the BoQ from local stock where we hold it, or ordered directly from the vendor where we do not. Serial numbers are recorded against your project, so a warranty claim later does not depend on you having kept the paperwork.
- 04
Installation and commissioning
Our own engineers install, terminate, configure and test. The testing is documented — link certification, camera fields of view, failover checks — and the results are handed over as part of the file rather than described verbally.
- 05
Handover and support
As-built drawings, configuration backups, credentials and test results, plus training for whoever will run it day to day. Support and warranty are handled by the same team that installed it.
Standards and regulations
What a deployment is measured against. A consultant or a main contractor will check a proposal against these, so they are named rather than implied.
- ANSI/TIA-568
- The commercial building telecommunications cabling standard — cable categories, link lengths, termination and the performance a certified link has to meet. The maximum 90-metre horizontal run comes from here, and it is not negotiable by adding a longer patch lead.
- ISO/IEC 11801
- The international equivalent, used across most Gulf specifications. Classes D through F map onto the Category 5e to Category 7 range and define the same channel performance in different language.
- ANSI/TIA-942
- Data centre telecommunications infrastructure, including the tier topology that decides whether a facility can be maintained without being taken down.
- IEEE 802.3at / 802.3bt
- Power over Ethernet and its higher-power successor. A PTZ camera with a heater or a Wi-Fi 6E access point can exceed what 802.3at delivers, which is why the standard the switch supports has to be checked against the devices, not assumed.
- IEEE 802.11ax
- Wi-Fi 6 and 6E. The gain over 802.11ac is mostly in dense environments — it is a capacity standard more than a speed one, which is exactly what a campus or an office floor needs.
- Saudi Building Code
- Containment, fire-stopping at compartment boundaries, and the cable fire performance required in escape routes and risers.
Sectors we deploy this in
Questions we get asked
Does SOT design networks for both new buildings and retrofits?
Yes, SOT handles greenfield network design as well as upgrades to existing infrastructure.
What's the difference between SD-WAN and traditional WAN for my business?
SD-WAN offers centralized, software-based control and typically lower cost than traditional WAN circuits — SOT can advise which fits your site count and budget.
Is cabling work certified for manufacturer warranty?
SOT's fiber and structured cabling installations follow certified processes to preserve manufacturer warranty coverage.
