Display Systems & Visual Technology

SOT transforms environments with cutting-edge visual technologies. From seamless command center video walls to interactive smart boards for collaboration and retail digital signage, SOT brings digital content to life.

Display systems are bought on screen specification and succeed or fail on everything around it — mounting, viewing distance, ambient light, the source feeding it and whether anyone can operate it without training. A bright, high-resolution panel in the wrong position is a worse outcome than a modest one in the right one.

The two measurements that decide a specification are viewing distance and ambient light. Distance sets the minimum size for text to be legible, and it is why a screen chosen to suit a wall rather than a room leaves people unable to read a shared document. Ambient light sets the required brightness: a panel specified for an office is unreadable behind a glazed shopfront in daylight, and the fix is a high-brightness commercial panel rather than turning the existing one up.

Duty cycle is the third. A consumer television running sixteen hours a day in a public space will fail well inside its expected life and its warranty will not cover the use. Commercial panels are rated for the hours they will actually run, which is most of the price difference between them.

What this covers

  • Interactive displays

Touch panels for classrooms and meeting rooms, with the annotation and screen-sharing workflow set up so a session starts without a laptop being reconfigured.

  • Video walls

Narrow-bezel LCD arrays and LED walls with the processing behind them, mounted on a serviceable structure rather than one that has to be dismantled to reach a failed tile.

  • Digital signage

Commercial panels with players and a content management system, so a screen showing the wrong thing is corrected centrally rather than by visiting it.

  • Content distribution

AV-over-IP and matrix switching to route sources to displays across a building without a cable run per pair.

  • Mounting and integration

Structural mounting, recessing and cable management, including the service access that decides whether a maintenance visit takes an hour or a day.

  • Control systems

One control interface for displays, sources, audio and lighting, so the room is operated from a panel rather than four remotes.

How we deliver it

  1. 01

    Site survey

An engineer walks the site and records what is actually there — cable routes, containment, power, ceiling voids, existing equipment and its condition. Most of the cost overruns on a project of this kind are either discovered here or discovered late.

  2. 02

    Design and Bill of Quantities

A drawn design and an itemised BoQ: every part, its quantity and its price, with the reasoning for the specification written beside it. You own the document whether or not you buy from us.

  3. 03

    Supply from Riyadh stock

Equipment released against the BoQ from local stock where we hold it, or ordered directly from the vendor where we do not. Serial numbers are recorded against your project, so a warranty claim later does not depend on you having kept the paperwork.

  4. 04

    Installation and commissioning

Our own engineers install, terminate, configure and test. The testing is documented — link certification, camera fields of view, failover checks — and the results are handed over as part of the file rather than described verbally.

  5. 05

    Handover and support

As-built drawings, configuration backups, credentials and test results, plus training for whoever will run it day to day. Support and warranty are handled by the same team that installed it.

Standards and regulations

What a deployment is measured against. A consultant or a main contractor will check a proposal against these, so they are named rather than implied.

VESA mounting standards
Mount interface patterns and load ratings. The relevant figure is the mount's rating against the panel's actual weight plus any dynamic load, not the pattern fitting.
HDCP and HDMI specifications
Content protection and bandwidth limits. This is the usual cause of a display showing nothing when a laptop is connected through a switcher that does not carry the right HDCP version.
IEC 62368-1
Safety for audio, video and information technology equipment — relevant wherever panels are mounted in public areas or at height.
Saudi Building Code
Structural fixing for anything mounted overhead or in a public space, and the electrical provision feeding it.

Questions we get asked

What's the difference between a video wall and digital signage?

Video walls are typically used for command-center/control-room monitoring; digital signage targets customer-facing retail or public spaces — SOT designs for both.

Can SOT recommend the right pixel pitch for our venue?

Yes, SOT selects pixel pitch based on typical viewing distance in your space.

Do smart boards integrate with existing meeting-room AV?

SOT integrates interactive smart boards with existing or new meeting-room AV setups.
