Retail & Commercial

Retail Digital Signage

Commercial panels bright enough for a glazed shopfront, with central content management so a promotion changes everywhere at once.

Retail signage has one unforgiving physical requirement: it usually faces daylight through glass. A panel specified for interior brightness is simply invisible in a shopfront during the day, and turning it up does not solve a problem of several times the required luminance. High-brightness commercial displays exist for this and there is no substitute.

The second requirement is operational. A promotion that has to be changed by visiting each store will not be changed on time in every store, so central content management is what makes a signage estate useful rather than decorative. Scheduling by store, region and daypart follows from the same platform.

Duty cycle and orientation are warranty conditions rather than preferences. Trading hours are long, portrait installations are common, and a panel not rated for either will fail early and outside cover.

What this covers

  • High-brightness displays

Window-facing panels specified against measured ambient light, rather than interior panels used hopefully.

  • Central content management

Scheduling and playlists by store, region and time of day, changed once and applied everywhere.

  • Commercial duty rating

Panels rated for the trading hours and the orientation they will actually run in, so the warranty holds.

  • Live data feeds

Price, stock and queue information driven from source, so screens are current rather than a snapshot.

  • Estate monitoring

Alerting on a blank screen or a stopped player, so it is noticed before a customer notices.

What we will ask you

These are the questions that decide the specification. Having the answers ready is what turns a first conversation into a real quotation.

  1. 01

How much daylight hits the screen?

This decides brightness class. It is measured, and interior-grade panels behind glass do not work.

  2. 02

    Who changes the content?

Without an owner and a platform, signage shows last season's promotion within weeks.

  3. 03

    Portrait or landscape?

Portrait needs a panel rated for it. An unrated panel traps its own heat and fails early.
