Nurse Call Systems
Call points, corridor indication and staff notification with escalation — so an unanswered call becomes somebody else's alert rather than nobody's.
A nurse call system is judged on one thing: whether a call is answered. Everything else is implementation detail. The failure that matters is a call that sits unanswered because the nurse it notified is occupied, which is why escalation is the central feature rather than an advanced one — after a defined interval the call has to reach somebody else, and then somebody senior.
The second requirement is that it works when other things do not. Call points are wired and powered so that a network problem does not silence them, and corridor and dome indication gives a visual route to the room without any software involved.
Reporting is the third element, and it is what turns the system into a management tool. Response times per ward and per shift show where staffing is genuinely short, and that data is usually more valuable to a hospital than any feature on the panel.
What this covers
Call points and pull cords
Bedside, bathroom and en-suite call points with cords specified for the patient group, and cleanable surfaces throughout.
Escalation logic
Timed escalation to a second responder and then to a supervisor, so no call can simply remain unanswered.
Staff notification
Corridor displays, dome lights and handset or pager notification, so a call is visible in the corridor and on a person.
Emergency and code calls
Distinct priority for crash and assistance calls, presented differently from routine ones.
Response reporting
Response times by ward and by shift, which is the data that supports staffing decisions.
What we will ask you
These are the questions that decide the specification. Having the answers ready is what turns a first conversation into a real quotation.
- 01
What is the escalation policy?
Intervals and recipients should be decided by clinical management before installation, because they are configured in.
- 02
Does it survive a network fault?
Call points and corridor indication should not depend on the data network being healthy.
- 03
Can everything be cleaned?
Infection control governs surfaces and fixings. It should be checked at specification, not at handover.
